Why do MRI reports vary so much?
MRI scans are very complex, and the quality of the scan and report you receive can vary greatly. This can be impacted by:
- The radiographer’s experience and skill at interpreting the multiple sequences involved
- How advanced their image analysis and reporting software is
- Attention to detail during the scan - a full rectum, patient movement and prosthetics from a hip replacement can all impact accuracy.
Prostate image quality is graded by an assessment system called PI-QUAL on a scale of 1 to 5.
