What’s SABR used for?

Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy (SABR) is a highly precise form of radiotherapy that delivers high doses of radiation.

This can be directed at the whole prostate in five treatments, treating on alternate days over two weeks. Or it can be used to treat a small number of metastasised tumours (such as in the lymph nodes or bone) in three to five treatments, again over alternate days.

It’s performed by our specialist team using a regular radiotherapy machine or more specialised equipment such as an MR-Linac. Due to the accuracy of the treatment, it’s effective at reducing the dose to healthy tissue and limiting potential side effects.
