Can I be retreated with focal therapies?
Yes, you can. Occasionally, we need to conduct another treatment for a new prostate cancer developing in a previously untreated part of the prostate.
Your treatment choices are often the same as when the first cancer was found, in other words, whole gland therapies, focal therapies or even active surveillance.
However, it’s important to consider that nerve sparing surgery outcomes are likely to be worse when previous focal therapy treatments have been used. That’s because there’s often scar tissue present that makes a careful delicate dissection less effective.
Your consultant will take the time to understand your preferences and priorities, offering a personalised approach to planning your treatment and aftercare.
